Sources and method

We read published reporting and official statements, then write our own one-to-three sentence summary of each. We never reproduce a paragraph from an outlet. Headlines are stored verbatim because a headline is a fact about what the outlet published; our summary is separate and clearly ours.

Verbatim quotation appears only in quotation marks, always attributed to a named speaker. Summaries are capped at 320 characters and quotes at 240. Where sources disagree we publish both, with equal weight and no ordering that implies one is right.

Contested statements carry a label everywhere they appear: confirmed where an official body has said it or two independent outlets report it, reported where there is a single source, and disputed where accounts conflict.

Outbound links are checked for reachability on a schedule. Links that fail are recorded and flagged rather than silently dropped, so you can see what we could not verify.

How we workWe have no reporters in Irkutsk and no first-hand access. Every item below is aggregated from a named outlet or an official body, summarised in our own words, and linked to its original. We do not republish paragraphs, and we do not rank outlets.

CorrectionsSend a correction with a source to editor@pneumonicplague.news. We re-check claims rather than removing them quietly, and the change appears in the item's own record.
